Emily Carr Elementary brings together children from the neighbourhoods of Fairview, Shaughnessy and Cambie. Many amenities can be found in this vibrant and walkable area. Below are a few community focused resources that our families enjoy:

Douglas Park Community Centre is the closest community centre to Emily Carr Elementary. It hosts a variety of activities, events and classes for all ages. Pick up their recreation guide or visit their website for more information.

Classes for Douglas Park and all other Vancouver Community Centres can also be viewed on the Vancouver Recreation website as well. Course offerings change every season.

Hillcrest Community Centre has many recreational facilities, such as an ice hockey and curling rink, aquatic centre, library, and fitness centre. With Nat Bailey Stadium, Riley Park, the Vancouver Farmers' Market (Winter), Queen Elizabeth Park, and the Bloedel Conservatory nearby, there's something for everyone.

Classes for Hillcrest Centre and all other Vancouver Community Centres can also be viewed on the Vancouver Recreation website as well. Course offerings change every season.

Terry Salman library is a medium sized library located inside the Hillcrest Community Centre. There is a children's section of books, alongside storytime and reading programs for kids. A study room and computers are also available here.

Firehall library is a small library located on top of a fire station. Find a children's section as well as storytime programs for little ones. Computers are also available by reservation. Entrance to free parking is located behind the building. Coffee shops, Indigo Chapters and other shops are a stone's throw away on Granville St.

Van Dusen is home to a variety of plants and wildlife that bloom and change throughout the seasons. They host a variety of events like a plant sale, Sakura Festival, and the Festival of Lights. Children's nature camps and adult workshops explore this 55 acre garden to explain nature's wonders. The Bloedel Conservatory is also part of this organization and is located at Queen Elizabeth Park.

Memberships are also available if one plans to visit multiple times throughout the year.

A family friendly destination with plenty to see and do. Enjoy the Kids Market, have a bite at the Public Market, explore the many shops and artist studios. Cruise along False Creek via Aquabus and come back for a show at one of the theatres. Just watch out for seagulls, they swipe your food if you give them a chance!

Learn a bunch of science through exploration and play! The Wonder Gallery is perfect for kids aged 0-5 yrs. Other permanent exhibits include the Eureka Gallery, BodyWorks, Search: Sara Stern Gallery and so much more. The Omimax is currently closed due to COVID.

Membership is great if visiting multiple times a year.
